Udupi: Accusing MP Shobha Karandlaje and MLA Raghupathi Bhat of taking false credit for projects initiated by others, former minister Pramod Madhwaraj on Saturday challenged them to sanction Rs 10 lakh fund to develop a playground the Government High School in Uppoor.

Reacting to a tweet by MLA Raghupathi Bhat which claimed that the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) in Uppoor was set up with support of MP Shobha Karandlaje, Madhwaraj said that the MLA should feel ashamed of himself for making false declarations and requested them to concentrate on working on pro-people projects.

Speaking at a press meet, Madhwaraj said that the GTTC project had been initiated in his tenure and presented documentation to establish his claim.

Madhwaraj said that he had vowed to set up the GTTC in Uppoor after Bhat accused him of shifting the University’s PG Study Centre from Uppor to Belapu. He clarified that it was he who urged Sathish Jarkiholi, the then minister of small scale industries, and had identified five acres of land in Uppoor to ensure that Rs 10 crore GTTC project was implemented without hassles.

Taking a jibe at Shobha Karandlaje, who had termed Siddaramaiah as a cheap politician in the past, Madhwaraj said by claiming credit for other people’s work it is very much obvious who is cheap.
