Madikeri: GP member succumbs 4 days after consuming poison

Madikeri: A woman member of the Aruvathoklu gram panchayat, who had consumed poison, died four days later.

The deceased, identified as H.R. Ramya (28), lived in Kaikeri village.

Sources said that she tried taking her own life by consuming poison on October 11. She was rushed to a hospital and given emergency treatment. After discharge from the hospital, she was living at her parents’ house.

On the evening of Saturday, Ramya again complained of severe stomach ache and her health condition worsened. Though she was rushed to the hospital, she died on the way, sources said.

Her brother Vinod has filed a complaint in this regard at the Gonikoppa Police Station.

Ramya, who was estranged from her first husband, was allegedly cheated by a man from Palibetta on the pretext of marrying her. Reportedly, she mentioned it in her death note.

The family has requested the police to strict action against the accused man from Palibetta for abetting her suicide.
