Madikeri: Traffic restrictions on NH 275 due to landslide risk

Madikeri: In the interest of public safety, the movement of all vehicles will be restricted on National Highway 275 from Sampaje to Madikeri in the Kartoge area from 8 PM to 6 AM daily, starting July 18 until July 22, announced District Commissioner Venkat Raja.

The decision follows a report from the Assistant Executive Engineer of the National Highway Subdivision, which indicated a risk of landslides on the right side of the road between kilometers 90.05 and 90.10 near Kartoge due to heavy rainfall.

This measure has been taken to prevent potential hazards arising from the landslide risk on the stretch of NH 275 between Sampaje and Madikeri. The restriction applies to all vehicles except those involved in emergency services and disaster management operations.

Vehicles traveling through Kodagu district to destinations such as Mysuru and Bengaluru are advised to use the Charmadi Ghat-Kottigehara alternate route, stated the District Commissioner.
