Gadchiroli (Maha): The residents of Amdeli village here had a long wait for 70 years before they could see their homes lit up with electricity and commute in public buses. Amdeli, surrounded by forest and having a population of around 200 people, all of whom are Telugu speaking, is a remote village in Gadchiroli district on the border of Maharashtra and Telangana.
It is located in Sironcha taluka, which is around 220 kms from the district headquarters. Till a few days back, there was no electricity or transport facility in the village. District guardian minister Raje Ambrishrao Atram decided to provide these basic facilities for which he made a provision of Rs 45 lakh fund in the District Panning Council for the village.
The officials of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) and Public Works Department (PWD) then started the work and finally the electricity has now reached this small village. The BJP MLA yesterday inaugurated the two facilities in the village. He reached Amdeli by travelling in a state transport (ST) bus and performed a puja of the electric distribution point (DP) before the village got illuminated.
To enable the ST bus to reach the village, the personnel of the district police prepared a bridge on a drain. Atram travelled to the village in the ST bus which passed over the bridge.
