Mangaluru: “The Mahaghatbandan is going to clinch the power in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Congress party will win 200 seats and Rahul Gandhi will be chosen as the Prime Minister of the country,” said former chief minister and MP M Veerappa Moily, speaking to the media in the city on Monday, December 24th.
“BJP has considerably weakened in the recently held assembly elections in five states of the country. In addition, Shiv Sena and the party of Kushwaha have deserted the NDA. At the same time, opposition parties are polarized and are becoming stronger,” he added.
“In Karnataka, the alliance of Congress-JD (S) is going to contest the elections. It will not be a surprise if the BJP gets only three or four seats. On the whole, it is sure that Modi is going to be brought down from power,” said Moily.
The Grand Alliance
“The Grand Alliance (Mahaghatbandan) agrees the candidature of Rahul Gandhi for the post of Prime Minister. However, the announcement of prime ministerial candidate will not be done now. Let the elections be over. If the Congress secures 200 seats in the alliance, then Rahul Gandhi will be the leader of the Grand Alliance. The party which secures the highest seats in the Grand Alliance will nominate the person from its party for the PM post,” explained Moily.
“The chaos in the state ministerial cabinet has reduced after the expansion of the cabinet. BJP was waiting for a chance. It also had accused that there is no representation for North Karnataka in the cabinet. Now all those issues are addressed. It is not possible to offer minister positions to all the 60 MLAs. Those who are not made ministers should not lose their patience,” said the MP.
To the query of the scribes about his contention in the coming Lok Sabha elections from Chikkaballapur, Moily replied, “I will contest for the third time also from the constituency of Chikkaballapur. I am not an aspirant to contest from the constituency of Mangaluru.”
