Mumbai: Taking a jibe at Sonu Sood, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut called him a ‘puppet’, who was being controlled by the BJP and suggested that the actor would later be roped in for promotion of the party.
Sood has been praised for his efforts in ferrying migrants to their hometown amid the Covid-19 crisis. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari too has lauded Sonu Sood for his efforts and even assured full support for his actions.
In an editorial in the party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, Raut said that a new Mahatma (referring to Sood) has emerged in Maharashtra since past few days. It further said that Sood would soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and become the celebrity manager of Mumbai.
“We have seen images of Sood helping migrants reach home. It is also said that the actor managed to do more for the migrants especially when the state and the Central government couldn’t do anything and failed,” wrote Raut.
He questioned how Sood managed to obtain buses amid the lockdown to send the migrant workers to their native places.
It further states that if the states were not allowing in migrant workers, where the people were going.
Raut mentioned that the actor was doing all the rescue operations through funds collected from a charitable organisation.
In an interview recently, Raut had called Sood a good actor.”There is a different director for movies, the work he has done is good but there is a possibility that there is a political director behind it,” he said.
