Udupi: On the occasion of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) donated Rs 5 lakh to the journalists’ welfare fund. This fund aims to support journalists during times of illness or accidents.
The donation ceremony took place at MAHE Manipal, where MAHE’s Pro-Chancellor Dr. H S Ballal, and Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, handed over the cheque to the office bearers of the Journalists Association. Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao K, Pro Vice Chancellor of MAHE Department of Health Sciences, also graced the event.
Acknowledging the contribution, the Association honored Dr. H S Ballal and Lt Gen Dr. M D Venkatesh. Among the attendees were Association President Rajesh Shetty Alevoor, General Secretary Nazir Polya, State Association Member Kiran Manjanbailu, Rajata Mahotsava Committee General Secretary Jayakar Suvarna, Treasurer Umesh Marpalli, and Udupi Press Club Convenor Ajit Aradi.
