Mahindra’s post on Kellogg’s ‘upma’ goes viral

Business tycoon Anand Mahindra posted a meme on the American multinational food manufacturing company, Kellogg’s ‘upma’ and the internet can’t keep quite.
The caption read, “Kellogg’s came to India challenging that they will change the breakfast habits of all Indians. 10-years later, this happened.”
Mahindra wrote, “Kellogg’s has been here for longer than a decade. So this is dated but the meme is going around now. And the sentiment endures.” “Never underestimate the power of our local ‘champions’,”

As per the company’s website, Kellogg India opened its first manufacturing plant in Mumbai. Since its inception, the brand has aimed to target the breakfast market with easy-to-make cereals and convenience foods. In its attempt to adapt to the local market and create edibles that are more suited to the Indian palate, Kellogg India launched its breakfast product Kellogg’s Upma early last year.
Westerners can manipulate our clothing sense but our taste buds are here to stay for long.

Indian breakfast is healthy. We should eat what our parents or ancestors ate for breakfast… https://t.co/9MLhTPklUI

Change is the only constant. It was due to McAloo and McParatha or for that matter McLocal that McD survived in India while KFC trying to retain its American DNA has nearly perished. Same with @FordIndia @GM @HarleyIndia. Tough for American brands to crack Indian market. https://t.co/iZw7SIH6JM

It was rather rude of Kellogg to aim for it. Who has changed whom ? Indian cuisine is getting more and more popular accross many areas in the world . Soft power of India. If I can extrapolate , it is time for India dominate the global thought process @anandmahindra https://t.co/wrUHes8aDE
