Chamarajanagar: Karnataka minister for Mines and Geology CC Patil said on December 29 that the government will be bringing out a new sand procurement policy.
Speaking to reporters here he said that the policy will be a major reform as it will introduce a grade system.
He added that there will be six grades. Grade 1-3 will be for sand extracted from streams and ditches and from 4-6 will be for sand extracted by Mysuru Minerals and Hatti Gold Mines.
“The government intends to ensure that sand is sold at Rs 300 to 350 per tone. All the mines in the State will be surveyed using drones and some agencies have been shortlisted for this purpose. The policy’s implementation was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Patil said.
