Malegaon blast case: Lt Col Purohit out on bail after 9 years

New Delhi: Lt Colonel Shrikant Purohit out of jail on bail, after nine years.

He was being accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.

On Monday, the Supreme Court had granted him bail, while on Tuesday, the bail formalities was completed at the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court located inside the Mumbai Session Court.

Cl Purohit was escorted by the Indian Army. Lt Col Purohit would now be attached to one of the units of Southern Command even as the Army headquarters would be subsequently taking a call on his suspension.

After his release, he is expected to be taken to an Army unit at Colaba where formalities would be done and he would subsequently leave for his residence in Pune.
