Malpe: Have you been asked to donate to a charity? It may be someone claiming to be from an organization or just random people. They may say they are poor and need money for treatment but can’t tell you simple details, like which hospital or what is the disease. They may say they only accept cash or push you to donate immediately. If so, they may be a scammer.
Recently, a gang duping people by collecting money on the pretext of providing treatment to their family has come to light in Udupi.
It is said that the couple along with a child approach random people in Malpe and ask for donations claiming it to be for the treatment of their mother. They also claim that they were brought to the city by an unknown man and he has now gone missing.
Apparently, the duo had approached diving expert Eshwar Malpe and collected Rs 2,000 from him. If you spot the duo, then immediately inform the local police station.
