Malpe: Fisherman catches Ghol fish weighing 23 kilos worth Rs. 2.44 lakh!

Malpe: A fisherman’s fortune turned overnight with a catch and sale of massive Ghol fish weighing 23 kilos at a whopping cost of Rs. 2.44 lakhs, here on Tuesday.

This specie of fish is found in abundance in the Maharashtra and Gujarat seas.

The cost of the fish per kilo is Rs. 10,640.

Speaking to the media Dr. Shivakumar Haragi from the Department of Marine Biology, Karnataka University said, “This fish contains medicinal property, and its stomach is considered to be ‘gold’. It has greater demand overseas. It is used in making beauty products.”

As per the experts, the maximum size of Ghol fish is 1.5 metre, and its cost increases as per its weight. It can cost upto Rs. 5 lakhs for 30 kg Ghol fish. Its meat is said to be tasty.
