A man accused of raping a minor has allegedly been making threat calls to the victim asking her to withdraw the complaint.

The rape survivor’s family files a complaint seeking protection and action against the accused.

The incident of rape came to light after the victim confided in her grandmother after which the family approached the Holehonnur police station in Bhadravathi taluk.

Upon coming to know of the rape complaint against him, the accused managed to flee and reached Cameroon in Central Africa from where he made threat calls to the victim on WhatsApp for withdrawing the complaint.

The family said that the police has asked them to lodge a fresh complaint.

An investigation is underway to ascertain how the accused escaped despite the rape complaint.
