Man and woman found dead: Honour killing suspected

Kalaburagi: A man and woman who were said to be in relationship were found murdered in two different places of Jewargi taluk of Kalaburagi on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sharanappa Katti, aged 28. He was a resident of Kumana Sirasagi village in Jewargi taluk. He was found dead in the morning. His body was recovered near the Yellamma temple which is situated on the outskirts of the village.

The same afternoon, police found the body of Lakshmibai, aged 24. She was a resident of Shahpura taluk in Yadagiri district. Her body was found near Vasthari village in Jewargi taluk. Lakshmibai’s body was found burnt.

The police have suspected a case of honour killing. Close relatives of the two revealed to the police that Sharanappa and Lakshmibai got to know each other during Sharanappa’s visit to his relatives in Shahpura Taluk.

It is said that both fell in love. Sharanappa and Lakshmibai belonged to different caste. Lakshmibai left her husband and started living with Sharanappa for the past two years.

The police have suspected that the two were killed by someone who is against their relationship. But there are no witnesses of the incidence hence it is very difficult for the police to come to a conclusion. According to the Superintendent of Police N. Shashi Kumar it is suspected to be a case of honour killing.
