Mangaluru: Acting on a complaint lodged by Wenlock Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr. Rajeshwari Devi, the Mangaluru South police arrested a youth for unruly behaviour with doctors and staff on duty in the Causality Department of the hospital here.

The arrested person has been identified as Nitin.

Dr. Devi, in her police complaint, alleged that Nitin and another youth Dikshit Shetty had admitted one of their friend Dhanish Shetty to the hospital’s causality department at about 3 a.m. Dhanish who had suffered head injuries, after a fall from his motorcycle, was given preliminary treatment whereafter the causality medical officer asked Nitin to take him for a CT scan at the scanning centre in the adjoining building of the hospital.

The duo, however, refused and insisted that the hospital staff arrange for an ambulance for them to take their friend to a private hospital in Kuntikana. Nitin later started abusing the on-duty hospital staff for delay in getting an ambulance to shift his friend while Dikshit Shetty made a video the incident and posted it on social media platforms.

A complaint was registered under Section 504 of the Indian Penal Code (insult intended to provoke breach of peace) IPC and under Sections 3 and 4 of Karnataka Prohibition of Violence against Medicare Services Personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act.
