Man arrested for impersonating his brother in Court

Sullia: A person attempting to mislead the Court by appearing in a case in the place of his elder brother was arrested on Friday October 5th. The arrested accused has been identified as Shariff from Shanthinagara, Savanoor. He was caught when he appeared in a case of fight between two groups claiming to be his elder brother Siddique. .
The court here was hearing a case of fight between two mobs, which had happened at Savanoor Shanthinagara on June 11, 2017. The accused Siddique, Aries M, and Nawaz M were supposed to appear in the Court in relation to the case. However, it is gathered about six months ago, Siddique had returned to a foreign country to work there.
On October 5th, the accused appeared for hearing at 11 am in the Court. However, the presiding Judge got suspicious about the appearance of Siddique. When questioned, Shariff insisted that he indeed was Siddique. Even the other accused asserted that Shariff was indeed Siddique.
Suspecting deceit, the judge adjourned hearing to 3 pm the same day and asked the concerned to produce identity card to prove that he was Siddique, before giving the accused to the possession of the police. Later, Shariff’s father and brother appeared in the court, produced identity proof, and argued that he was Siddique. But on comparison with the details of Siddique on the records of the court and the identity proof provided in his name, it was ascertained that Shariff was impersonating as Siddique.
Shariff, Aries M, Nawaz M, and Nazeer were arrested for producing false documents in the Court. Abdul Rahiman, father of Shariff was also taken into custody for interrogation.
