Mangaluru: Ullal police arrested a 60-year-old man on charges of raping a specially-abled minor girl.

The accused identified as Thomas has been booked under POSCO Act and section 376 ( relating to rape), section 506 (relating to criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

It is gathered that the accused was acquainted with the victim’s family and had offered to drop the girl to school on his scooter. Locals grew suspicious of Thomas as he used to go in a different direction while escorting the minor and thus followed him.

Thomas was caught red handed while attempting to rape the girl after taking her into the nearby rubber plantations. Locals called the police and he was arrested on Tuesday, February 25.

A medical test of the victim revealed that she had been subjected to repeated rape.
