Man arrested with 11 kgs of poppy in Poonch

Jammu : A person has been arrested on charges of drug possession and 11 kgs of poppy were seized from his truck in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, the police said today.
The seizure was made during a checking drive on the Mughal Road in Poonch’s Behramgalla area, a police officer said, adding that 17 bags containing around 11 kg of poppy were found in the accused’s truck. On questioning, he claimed his name was Karanjeet Singh and he was from Punjab’s Ludhiana, the officer said.
A case has been registered against him at the Surankote Police Station, he said. The police is investigating the matter.
