Karkala: A man allegedly assaulted his estranged wife, her brother after forcibly entering her house with few of his friends and took away his daughter here on October 18. A complaint in this regard is lodged at Karkala rural police station.

The woman Pratima Devadiga had tied the knot with Kumar, a resident of Anekallu in 2014 and they have two children. As per the complaint, it is said that Kumar would often beat his wife under the influence of alcohol. Upset over their rifts, the woman had returned to her parents’ home at Alimarugudde alongwith her children.

A drunk Kumar however used to arrive there and create a scene now and then. On October 16, he called his wife and threatened to take away the kids if she did not return home with them. As Pratima did not oblige, he arrived at her parental home with his friends, barged in forcibly, assaulted Pratima, her brother Praveen and tried to drag the children away.

Despite their efforts to stop Kumar, he succeeded in taking his daughter away.
