Bengaluru: A youth tried to kill his father after his father refused to give him money for gambling.
The accused is Santosh(28) alias Scrap Mukund. Santosh’s father Ramappa (60) is admitted to the hospital. His condition is critical, informed sources.
Ramappa is an autorickshaw driver. Of late, Santosh had taken up auto driving as his father was ageing. However, Santosh would spend all his earnings playing cards.
It is gathered that Santosh who is a habitual offender lost lakhs of rupees in gambling and had decided to earn it back, apparently, through gambling itself.
On Saturday night, he lost Rs 1 lakh. As he did not have the amount in person, he brought his co-players to his house. Santosh then told his father to give them the money, but Ramappa refused, in a fit of rage, Santosh went into the kitchen, brought a knife and stabbed his father.
The neighbours on hearing Ramappa’s screams rushed to the house and shifted him to the hospital.
An attempt to murder case has been registered by the Girinagar police after taking the statement of Ramappa’s wife as he is still unconscious.
