New Delhi: A 37-year-old man was killed and three others were injured after they were brutally beaten up by a group of men over a land dispute in southeast Delhi’s Tughlakabad area, police said today.
Two of the accused were arrested, they added.
The deceased, Jeetender, was called by the accused for a meeting yesterday, where he and his three companions were allegedly attacked, the police said.
The police were informed about the incident and when they reached the spot, they found four injured persons, who were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Jeetender died at the hospital while the others — Surinder (38), Rajbir (56) and Sandeep (36) — were undergoing treatment, the police said.
They were residents of the “Churiya mohalla” in Tughlakabad. There was a dispute between the victims and one Kartar (43) over possession of land, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said, adding that Kartar’s elder brother Subhash was allegedly a land grabber and had a previous case against him.
The accused beat up the victims with rods and sticks, the DCP said. Kartar and one of his associates, Yogesh (35), were arrested.
One of the injured persons, Surinder, told the police that Subhash, Kale, Kartar, Jagat and others had called them to the plot and assaulted them.
Jeetender’s family alleged that 20-25 people tied him to a tree and thrashed him with rods and sticks. The deceased is survived by wife and three children.
