Man gets 10-yr RI for sexually abusing minor boy

Mangaluru: The second additional district and sessions court here on Friday pronounced 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a Rs 5,000 penalty to Mohammed Ashraf, 38, for sexually abusing a minor boy in the year 2016.

In June 2016, Ashraf, a resident of Amblamogaru had sexually abused an 11-year-old boy when his parents were away from home. Ullal police had filed chargesheet in connection with the case.

Ashraf was convicted on Thursday under IPC Sections 447 (criminal trespass), 377 (unnatural offences) and Section 6 of the Pocso Act.

The court directed him to pay a fine of Rs 5000, out of which, Rs 3,000 will be paid to the victim.

In addition, the court also has directed the District Legal Services Authority to pay adequate compensation to the victim.
