Police on Friday arrested a six-member gang near Hebbal in connection with the kidnapping case of a youth within hours of receiving a complaint.
The arrested are identified as Srinivas, rowdy-sheeter Shivakumar, Prathap, Gangadhar, Akash, and Hucchegowda. As per the police, Srinivas planned to kidnap Venkatesh as he was angered by the fact that his sister had moved out of their live-in relationship.
On Thursday night, the six-member gang kidnapped Venkatesh and later Srinivas made a video call to the former’s sister saying that they would stop torturing Venkatesh if she returned to him.
The woman approached the police on Friday to lodge a complaint. A police team was formed to look into the case and within hours they nabbed the accused and rescued Venkatesh.
According to the police, Srinivas developed proximity with the woman when he used to visit his mother-in-law’s house. The woman who was married parted ways with her husband and began staying with Srinivas in a rented house.
However, differences developed between the two and she left for her mother’s house. Srinivas urged her to return but she did not oblige to his request. Angered by this Srinivas plotted to kidnap her brother with help of five other persons.
