Bengaluru: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly drugged by her husband with sleeping pills before injecting her with a pesticide that eventually killed her.

The deceased is identified as Deepa. The accused is Venkatesh G (30), a data entry operator.

As per sources, Deepa’s husband Venkatesh gave her sleeping pills as she was complaining of a headache on Monday, January 13 night. After she fell asleep he injected her with a pesticide.

As she lay dead, Venkatesh rang up his in-laws around 1 am on Tuesday, saying she wasn’t responding and asked them to come rushing. Deepa’s parents took her to a hospital where doctors proclaimed that she had died two hours ago.

Deepa’s father Giriyappa suspecting that Venkatesh might have murdered his daughter filed a police complaint against him.

In his complaint, Giriyappa said that his daughter wasn’t happy in her marriage and that she frequently complained about Venkatesh’s behaviour.

However, during the police interrogation Venkatesh said that he decided to kill his wife as he was upset about the frequent fights and also suspected that she was having an affair.
