Man loses more than Rs 2 lakhs to fraudsters who promised Mudra loans

Udupi: Beware while answering calls from unknown numbers. A man in Udupi lost more than Rs 2 lakhs by believing in the promises of an unknown caller for getting a Mudra loan.
The victim, Satish Jain, registered a complaint in this regard.
The complainant said that he received a call from an unidentified person. The person introduced himself as a Manager at a firm that gives out Mudra loans and promised to help Jain to get one too. After obtaining the documents, the caller asked Jain to deposit Rs 3,200 as registration charges.
Once the fee was paid, however, the caller repeatedly contacted Jain demanding more money on different pretexts such as processing charges, insurance charges, NOC, and even an RBI tax.
Jain, in his complaint, said that altogether he paid Rs 2,38,420 to the unknown caller between November 3 and November 11. However, he is yet to get the loan promised or the money he paid them.
A case has been registered at eh CEN police station.
