Man poisons daughter, burns body in his field

Mysuru: A horrifying incident has been reported at Gollanabeedu town in HD Kote taluk of Mysuru where a man allegedly poisoned his daughter and later burnt her body for being in a relationship with a Dalit boy.
The deceased has been identified as Sushma, aged 22. Her father Kumar was arrested on Thursday for poisoning her and burning her body in the field.
According to the reports, this incident is an honour killing. Sushma belonged to the Vokkaliga community and was in love with Umesh a dalit boy. Umesh is a resident of Alanahalli village of Mysuru. The both were in love from the past two years. Recently, Sushma’s father forced her to get married to a boy from their community but Sushma refused. She was adamant on marrying only Umesh. Raged by this her parents poisoned her on February 22 and burnt her body in the field. They even ploughed their land so that the villagers’ do not doubt them.
The villagers grew suspicious as Sushma disappeared all of a sudden. The incident came to light when Sushma’s relatives alerted the police.
The police arrested Kumar and brought him to the field where he burnt Sushma’s body. A case of Suo Motu has been registered against Kumar.
