Man robbed of gold chain worth Rs 2 lakhs

Udupi: An unidentied man attacked and robbed a man of his gold chain worth nearly Rs 2 lakh in a late night incident on the VST Road here on Tuesday.

The victim is identified as Ravi Shettigar (37), Deputy Manager of the Advertisement Section in the Udupi office of a newspaper. The victim was a resident of Indrali Lakshmindra Nagar and was returning back to the Udupi office from Kundapur when the incident took place around 10pm in the night.

Apparently, the victim was attacked from the rear by an unidentified person while he was answering nature’s call inside the compound. The stranger snatched his gold chain and made good his escape.

Udupi town police have registered a case in this connection.
