Baghpat: A 72-year-old met with death after a bunch of monkeys are said to have rained over 20 bricks on him from a treetop here on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Dharampal Singh. The cops who registered the death as an ‘accidental one’ are now facing a strange dilemma as the deceased’s family wants an FIR to be registered against the accused monkeys.
The incident took place in Tikri village in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh when Dharampal had gone to collect pieces of dry wood for ‘havan’. The bricks thrown by the monkeys hit Dharampal on his chest, head and legs. A severely injured Dharampal was rushed to the hospital where he breathed his last.
Meanwhile, the police are in no mood to entertain the family’s demand to register the case against monkeys. “This will make us a laughingstock. I don’t think it is a logical demand,” Station officer of Doghat police station Chitwan Singh was quoted as saying in a news report.
