Man who tested positive for Omicron COVID-19 variant in Karnataka had no travel history

Bengaluru: The 46-year-old man who is among two persons who tested positive for Omicron COVID-19 variant in Karnataka had no travel history.
Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said that the man who is a doctor developed symptoms of fever and body ache on November 21, and was admitted to a hospital on November 25.
Three primary and two secondary contacts of the man tested positive. They have been isolated, admitted to govt hospital and none of them showing any serious symptoms. All these people are fully vaccinated, the minister added.
Two cases of Omicron variant were detected in Karnataka on Thursday, December 2.
ICMR Director-General Dr. Balram Bhargav said, “There is no need to panic about Omicron, but awareness absolutely essential. It is important to get fully vaccinated, people should get both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. People should follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. Mass gatherings should be avoided.”
