Mangaluru: The fourth and fifth platforms at the Mangaluru Central Railway station would be ready by September 2022, informed Southern Railway General Manager John Thomas on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters after inspecting the facilities at the railway station, he said, the work on the pit lane is in progress and will be completed by March next year. The work on the new platforms will begin once the pit lane is in place. “It will take 6 months to complete the construction of railway platforms,” he added.
Thomas also informed that grants have been released for the construction and the tender process has been completed.
Construction of additional platforms would facilitate the running of trains in large numbers to meet the demand of the people of the district, he said.
