Mandya: In a major accident between a KSRTC bus and a tempo, over 30 passengers, including students, were injured. The incident took place on Monday (September 30) near Ummadahalli Gate, on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, close to Sanjo Hospital, in the outskirts of Mandya city.
The collision occurred when the driver of the Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus lost control, hit a canter, and the bus overturned. Several college students traveling in the bus sustained injuries, with five to six of them suffering serious injuries.
The government bus, which was en route from Tumkur to Mysuru, lost control while trying to exit the highway and enter the service road towards Mandya city. It collided with the canter on the service road and overturned.
Local residents and motorists promptly rescued the injured passengers from the overturned bus and rushed them to the nearby Sanjo Hospital for primary treatment. Those with serious injuries were later shifted to Mandya’s MIMS Hospital for further treatment.
The Mandya Rural Police arrived at the scene, used a crane to move the overturned bus to the roadside, and cleared the way for smooth traffic flow.
A case has been registered at the Mandya Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
