Bengaluru: Sitting Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh, who has held many meetings after losing the BJP ticket from Mandya constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has now set a deadline to announce her final decision. Sumalatha said that she will announce her next move on April 3 at 10 am in the Kalikamba temple premises in Mandya.
Sumalatha Ambareesh wanted to contest on a BJP ticket, but the party had given the seat to the JD(S).
After it was confirmed that she would not get the ticket, Sumalatha held meetings with her supporters. She also had a discussion with HD Kumaraswamy, the BJP-JDS alliance candidate for Mandya. She has now posted on social media and claimed that she will announce her decision on Wednesday.
Shah convinces Sumalatha?
Meanwhile, IANS reported sources saying that Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a discussion with Sumalatha Ambareesh, which was successful. After the assurances by HM Shah, she agreed to support the candidature of former CM and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, the report said.
Sumalatha Ambareesh had stated that she would take a call after a meeting with her supporters and decided to contest as an Independent.
JD(S) MLA and Core Committee President, GT Deve Gowda, stated that Sumalatha Ambareesh would announce a positive decision to support Kumaraswamy soon.
