Mangaluru: A Mangalorean student who was stuck in war-torn Ukraine arrived at the international airport on n Thursday March 3.
Anusha Bhat, who was pursuing her third-year MBBS in Ukraine, was received at the airport by her family, MP Nlain Kumar Kateel and MLA Vedavyasa Kamath.
Anusha said, “We took a bus from Vinnytsia to Chernivtsi and then reached the Romanian border. I walked for about 2 km towards the Romanian border post along with other Indian friends. Only Ukrainian army officers were deployed and no Indian government officials were present at the border post.”
“We then approached the immigration authorities at the Romanian border and were shifted to a shelter in Romania for two days. A flight was arranged from Bucharest to Mumbai by the Indian government,” the visibly-relieved student added.
