Mangaluru: 13 govt schools to be ‘smart schools’ before the next academic year

Mangaluru: Mohammed Nazir, Managing Director of Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) has informed that thirteen schools in eight wards of Mangaluru will be upgraded under the Area Based Development (ABD) of the Smart City Mission (SCM).
The schools include Government Higher Primary School Car Street, Bastigarden, Neereshwalya, Hoigebazar Lower Primary School, Government Practicing HS, Balmatta Primary School, Balmatta Secondary School, Bunder Higher Primary School (Urdu), Bunder Government High School (Urdu) and Bolara East Government Primary School.
These smart schools will have IT-enabled interactive teaching and learning tools, computer labs and open reading plazas.
The upgradation work will be in two phases. First, renovation works, at an estimated cost of Rs 11 crores, will be carried in these schools which includes replacing floor tiles, painting walls, repairing roofs for all-weather use, upgrading toilets and improving water supply.
In the second stage, MSCL will provide Rs 5 crore to install the information and technology tools to make the school a smart school.
The aim of the upgradation to smart school is to make every student digitally literate.
