Mangaluru: The city’s 15 junctions will be getting smart poles donning more than 75 cameras to keep an eagle’s eye on the movement of people and traffic, prevent crime and respond quickly to emergencies under the Smart City Mission.

The 15 junctions that will be covered in the first phase of the Mission includes Bijai, KSRTC Bus Stand, Pumpwel, Vamanjuru, Padil, Bendur, Falnir, Morgans Gate, Kulashekar-Shaktinagar Cross, Kottar Chowki, Kuntikan, Rao and Rao Circle, Padavinangadi and Kavur Junction. An operational smart pole has already been installed at Mallikatte.

Each smart pole will have 4-5 cameras covering 360-degree view of the junction. A smart display will also be mounted on the pole to display public announcements.

Additionally, an SOS button will be on each pole for public to press and seek help during emergencies.
