Mangaluru: 2 inter-state chain snatchers apprehended

Mangaluru: Two inter-state chain snatchers were apprehended, police said on Saturday.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammed Ali alias Ashru (32),a native of Kasaragod district, and Zubair (32) — both residents of B Mooda village, B C Road, Bantwal.

Police said the arrests were made based on a complaint filed at the Kankandy police station by a woman whose gold chain was snatched while walking at JM Road, Bajal.

The stolen gold chain, valued at Rs. 90,000 was recovered from the accused, police added.

According to police, Mohammed Ali, also known as Ashru, has a criminal history, with a total of 15 pending cases including house thefts, robbery, and jail altercations, spread across various police stations in Badiadka, Manjeshwar, Bantwal, Vittal, Bantwal Rural, and Barke.
