Mangaluru: 3 arrested for sword attack at Kavoor

Mangaluru: Kavoor police arrested 3 individuals in connection with a sword attack that occurred near M V Shetty College road here.

The accused have been identified as Charanraj (23) from Urundadi Gudde, Sumanth Burman (24) from Hosabettu, and Avinash (24) from Kodikal.

According to police, the trio riding on a scooter waylaid a pedestrian near MV Shetty College Road on Sunday and attacked with a sword.

Following the arrests, the accused have been produced before the court.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner said that all 3 involved in the incident have criminal antecedents. Chranraj is a notorious rowdy sheet and has several cases pending against him. Whereas, 4 cases were registered against Sumanth Burman and 5 cases against Avinash at various police stations in the city.

The injured pedestrian was also an accused in another case, the Police Commissioner said.

A sword and two-wheeler have been seized, police added.
