Mangaluru: 39-year-old man ends life by jumping into Nandini river

Haleyangadi: A man took his own life by jumping into the Nandini River at Pavanje bridge near here on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Suchendra Kumar (39), a resident of Shivamogga. it is gathered that he worked as an engineer.

Suchendra went missing after leaving his wife’s parental home in Chelyar in the morning on Monday. At around 12 pm, Mulky police received news about a man jumping off the Panvanje bridge. His body was fished out of the water with the help of the locals but he was pronounced dead later.

Police sources said that Suchendra was working from home and suffered from depression.

Asif takes a break from toll protest to assist rescue operations:

Apathbhandava Asif, who has been agitating for the removal of the toll gate at NITK, took a break to assist rescue operations. He jumped into the water to bring out Suchendra’s mortal remains. Thereafter, he resumed his protests at the toll gate.
