Kinnigoli: A swarm of angry honeybees stung people traveling on the main road here on Monday morning, leaving at least 8 people hospitalized.

The bees had built a hive at the Raj Heritage, a residential complex, near Moorukaveri. Witnesses said the bees got angry after a bird pecked into the nest. The angry swarm suddenly attacked everyone who was passing by triggering panic.

It is gathered that at least 8 persons were hospitalized including office goers, and teachers who were nearby.

Late forest officials were called in and after inspection made arrangements to clear out and relocate the bees from the building.

Meanwhile, officials have instructed the residents of the building to lock themselves up until the hive is cleared out.
