Mangaluru: 80 COVID-19 testing centres started

Mangaluru: About 80 centres to check people for fever, cold, cough and other symptoms related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been set up in the city.
Apart from the checking centres at Wenlock District Hospital and Lady Goshen hospital, 6 in community health centres, 66 in primary health centres (PHC) and four in the taluk hospital have been opened for people to visit and get themselves checked if they show any COVID-19-related symptoms.
Two other checking centres are already working at the city’s airport and seaport.
All centres are fully operational with medical staff trained in dealing with infected cases. The centres at Wenlock, Lady Ghosen, Mangaluru airport and seaport will be working 24×7.
Meanwhile, immediately after the announcement of a week-long shut down by the state government people were thronging groceries and shopping centres to stock up on food and other items for the period.
