Mangaluru: ABVP protests against oration by Dr Shamsul Islam

Mangaluru: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protested against an oration by the former associate professor of political science at the University of Delhi Dr. Shamsul Islam at Ravindra Kalabhavana, University College on Saturday.

Shamsul Islam, a well-known researcher, author, and people’s theatre activist, was invited to deliver the BV Kakkilaya Inspired Oration-2023 on the topic of ‘Joint Martyrdoms, Joint Heritage of 1857 War of Independence’. The event was organized by the Department of History of University College in association with Hosatu Monthly, MS Krishnan Trust, Bengaluru, and Samadarshi Vedike, Mangaluru.

ABVP student activists were seen holding placards reading ‘Go Back Shamsul’, in protest of “imposition of left ideology.”
