Mangaluru: Accusing the investigating officer of humiliating the victim in the sexual assault case, involving advocate K S N Rajesh Bhat, social activist Prasanna Ravi on Tuesday demanded that the case be handed over to deputy police commissioner Hariram Shankar

Speaking to media persons, Prasanna said that 50 days have passed since an FIR was filed against the accused lawyer, who continues to remain at large despite a lookout notice against him. She alleged that in the given circumstances it appears that the police were helping the accused to secure bail from the apex court.

Expressing her ire at the city police commissioner, Prasanna said that the former claimed that four teams have been formed to investigate the case but the investigating officer summons the victim and humiliates her asking why she is pursuing the case.

Further, she said that the police have denied them permission to stage a protest citing the election code of conduct.

All College Students’ Association Dakshina Kannada unit president Dhanush Shetty has warned that members, along with the victim, will observe a fast unto death.
