Mangaluru: Air passengers, airline numbers increase

Mangaluru: Flight services from the Mangaluru international airport here to national and international destinations as well as passenger numbers have increased since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In August, 26,067 passengers travelled through Mangalore airport to various States. In July, the number was 18,557 – a 40 per cent increase in the number of passengers.

Meanwhile, 26,732 passengers landed in Mangalore from different States in August, while in July the number was 19,744.

The increase in the number of passengers is because of the resumption of flights from Mangalore to various destinations as well as the easing of travel restrictions within India and abroad.

IndiGo has resumed its flights to Sharjah. Additional flights have also been resumed to Hyderabad.

In August, Air India Express started flights to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Thiruvananthapuram.

Indigo resumed flights to Hyderabad while Air India started its daily flights to Mumbai and Coimbatore.
