Mangaluru: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport thwarted another attempt to smuggle gold into the country.
The officials seized 242 grams of gold powder valued at Rs 14.5 lakhs from a passenger who arrived from Dubai on an Air India Flight on September 12.
The gold was concealed between two layers of four blue-coloured carbon thick paper sheets kept on four inner sides of a carton box, the officials said.
