Mangaluru: Animal Care Trust under its animal community shelter scheme has set up shelters for pups to protect them from rain, wind and cold.
The Shaktinagar-based Trust has been involved in protecting stray dogs, cats and other animals and also take care of abandoned pups and kittens.
The Trust now has started setting up shelters for pups and pregnant dogs who, during monsoon, take shelter in dangerous spots such as sewers and drains.
The Trust has already set up animal rain shelters at Derebail’s Prashant Nagar and at Mudushedde.
The Trust sets up its shelters near the place where they find an abandoned pup or pregnant dog. Shelters set up by the Trust are maintained by residents or shopkeepers near the shelter and also provide food to the animals in them.
