With an aim to maintain communal harmony and prevent divisive incidents, Police Commissioner Kuldeep Jain announced the formation of an anti-communal wing.

The unit will be led by an inspector from the city’s special branch and will operate under the guidance of the city crime branch (CCB).

Addressing presspersons, Jain emphasized that the anti-communal wing has already commenced its operations, diligently monitoring communal activities within the city limits. A dedicated team comprising five to six officers will be responsible for keeping a vigilant eye on various aspects related to communal unrest.

The primary objectives of the anti-communal wing include the monitoring and investigation of cases involving moral policing, communal murders, cattle theft, and instances where accused individuals harass victims.

Additionally, the team will closely scrutinize hate speeches and social media posts that have the potential to incite communal violence, thereby taking proactive measures to prevent such incidents.

The anti-communal wing will meticulously review and analyze approximately 200 recorded cases, encompassing offenses such as cattle theft, assaults under the pretext of moral policing, and murder.
