Mangaluru: A notorious associate of underworld gangsters Ravi Pujari and Kali Yogesh was arrested by Mangaluru police.
Mohammad Hanif alias Ali Munna, a resident of Manjeshwar, Paivalaki, Kerala was arrested by a team led by ACP Dhanya Naik of the Mangaluru South sub-division.
Police said Ali Munna is a notorious sharpshooter with multiple active arrest warrants across the districts. He previously worked as a henchman of Ravi Pujari in the coastal districts.
He had several cases against him, ranging from shootouts to thefts, registered between 2010 and 2013 in several police stations including Konaje, Mangaluru North, Puttur, Barke, Vitla, Ullal, and Bangalore Airport police stations.
Ravi Pujari’s criminal network in Karnataka was overseen by Ali Munna and Manish. Manish met his end in Bengaluru at the hands of the Kodikere Manoj gang, as retaliation for the murder of Kishan Hegde of Karkala. Following Manish’s demise, Ali went into hiding, reportedly changing base to Mumbai and Bengaluru, and was engaged in extortion.
Police said that ACP Dhanya Naik, in a joint operation with the Konaje police, apprehended Ali Munna. Konaje police are investigating.
