Thirthahalli: The Karnataka police raided the house of the Mangaluru autorickshaw blast suspect on Monday, November 21 early morning.

The suspect in the Mangaluru blast case Mohammed Shariq is a resident of Thirthahalli in the Malnad region. He is a wanted terror accused who has been on the run for many months now.

Three police teams from Thirthahalli, Malur, and Agumbe police stations raided Shariq’s and his relative’s houses and seized material from the suspect’s house.

Meanwhile, Shariq is being treated at an Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in Mangaluru and is reportedly not in a position to talk. The autorickshaw driver, Purushottam is also being treated.

Tension prevailed in communally-sensitive Mangaluru city in Dakshina Kannada district following the mysterious explosion in the moving auto. Initially, the police were probing whether it was a case of a fire mishap or blast.

However, Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood on Sunday said that the incident was not an accident.

“It’s confirmed now. The blast was not accidental but an act of terror with the intention to cause serious damage. The police are probing the matter along with Central agencies,” the DGP tweeted.
