Mangaluru: B Damodar Nisarga no more

Mangaluru: B Damodar Nisarga, a prominent figure of Dakshina Kannada district and the president of Tulu Koota Kudla, passed away on August 31. He was 76 and is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
Damodar Nisarga, the brother of film director Vishu Kumar, was a resident of Maroli. He had been at the helm of Tulu Koota for four decades. He also served as the vice president of the Tulu Federation and was a civil contractor by profession.
Nisarga was instrumental in the growth of the Tulu Academy and played a key role in organizing the Vishva Tuluvere Parba.
Throughout his life, Nisarga held several significant positions, including being the administrator of the Maroli Suryanarayana Temple, president of Gokarnanatheshwara Bank, member of the Kankanady Garadi administration board, founder president of the Kankanady Billava Association, Mahanagar Sangh Chalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and director of SCCDC Bank.
He also established the Dogra Poojari Study Center and honored artists for over 45 years. Nisarga was an active organizer of numerous Yakshagana events.
His passing has been mourned by many prominent figures, including Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Speaker U.T. Khader, former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, retired Vice-Chancellors Prof. B.A. Vivek Rai and Dr. K. Chinnappa Gowda, Tulu Academy President Taranath Gatti Kapikad, former MLA J.R. Lobo, among others, who expressed their condolences.
