Mangaluru: Bangladeshi national arrested for staying illegally in India

Mangaluru: A Bangladeshi national was arrested on Friday (January 10) in a joint operation by the Internal Security Division and Mangaluru police for illegally residing in the city.

The arrested individual, identified as Anarul Sheikh (25), was apprehended at Mukka, located on the outskirts of Mangaluru.

Reports suggest that Anarul, a native of Rajshahi district in Bangladesh, had entered India three years ago through the Lal Gola border in West Bengal’s Murshidabad.

Initially, he had settled in Udupi before moving to Mukka, where he worked as a construction labourer. Acting on a tip-off, the authorities raided his residence and took him into custody.

Anarul Sheikh is currently being subjected to a detailed interrogation by the police and the Internal Security Division to ascertain further details about his illegal stay.
